Justice Keitirima Urges Staff to Utilize the Court Vacation to Improve the Court Experience

The Head of Family Division, Justice John Eudes Keitirima, on Wednesday held a meeting with non-judicial staff where he assigned them different tasks geared at improving the court experience. 

He emphasized the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement in the Court's operations.

Justice Keitirima stated that the month-long Court Vacation is not leave for them but rather an opportunity to ensure registries are open for filing of new matters as well organizing case files. This he said will enable the Court prepare for its transition from Court Case Administration System to the Electronic Court Case Management Information System. 

He assigned them teams each with specific tasks such as listing total pending matters before each Judicial Officer and compare the same with CCAS record. Compile and write cases not captured on the System and also to categorise cases, indicating those without hearing dates, and counter-sign findings with Magistrates Grade I Research or the Registrars. This, he said, would aid in case management.

The Judge also pointed out that the exercise was important as it will also guide on the work available for Mediators.

Additionally, Justice Keitirima highlighted the need for proper management of the waiting area by reducing on the waiting time of court users especially the elderly and those with children.

The Judge also assigned a team to reorganize the archives to ease retrieval of files.

He reminded the staff that their work is crucial in supporting the court's operations and that they should strive to excel in their roles.

Justice Keitirima also emphasized the importance of teamwork and professionalism.

"Remain calm, be courteous and that is my appeal to you. Let's do our work properly," he said. 

Further, that the Court will hold a stakeholders meeting on August 14th. And that it is the time to reach out to court users to address any challenges they face in accessing court services. He urged them to take note and also purpose to attend and participate actively.
